Today I feel all pretty! Pretty like I’ve never been before!
Thanks to the even prettier Kelly Exeter my little blog St. Murphy has had an Oprah-like make-over. Now I am a very proud blogger, and feeling very professional.
Kelly has given me all this cool shit to play with. She’s also made it real easy for everyone who wants a piece of the St. Murphy pie to get it just how you like it. Top right you can follow on Facebook and Twitter, get all posts via RSS and also drop me an email. And if you are really keen, which I expect there will be at least 5 of you, you can now subscribe by email. WooHoo, told you, St. Murphy has gone all pro.
Unfortunately there will still be the same old content in the posts but at least its packaged much nicer now, like David Jones Xmas wrapping 365 days a year. Hope you like it? Let me know what you think. And a huge THANK YOU to Kelly for making it happen, I think you are AMAZING! Love your work.
As this is the Launch Party for the new look, I have two very special party stories for you. While St. Murphy has been made-over I’ve been drunk.
A Middle-Aged Blue Light Disco

I don’t do live music. I don’t get it. Its not fun. But this one I couldn’t pass up – Pseudo Echo with two besties Miss Cal and Lucky Paulie. See I had a HUGE gay-teenage-boy-who-thinks-he’s-straight crush on the boys of Pseudo Echo. They had such beautiful hair and wore the best that 80′s fashion had to offer. I thought they were the coolest ever! And their music was electro-pop – my favourite!
So who would go to Pseudo Echo? Middle-aged peeps like me looking to relive their youth! It was seriously a Blue light Disco + 25 years. It was brilliant and hilarious and we had an absolute ball. And Pseudo Echo were AMARSING!!! Sure helped that I still remembered all the words. Miss Cal, Lucky Paulie and danced our arses off.

We met those  crazy chicks at the top, they were like a Hens Night Gone Wild! Full 80′s gear and their own phone. They were out of control.
One of them turned to me while we were standing at the bar and said… “Lets go get fingered like we’re at a Blue Light Disco!”
Pissed. My Pants.

Dormie Reunion!
Sixteen years is a long time. When I last saw Andrew we were watching Steel Magnolia’s together and crying like babies. It was 1995 and we were both dating girls. In 1995 Sillsy was working her ass off putting herself through Uni and drinking like a fish. We all lived together in a Uni dorm, and this will SHOCK you, I was the Residential Tutor. It must be said I was very bad at this.
Andrew and his husband Rob are now like the Queen and Queen of Orange, practically running the town. Sillsy is running an empire in Dubbo, two small babies and a wedding to plan. In a very boozy 20 hours last weekend we caught up on 16 years. Yes, that is how long it had been since we’d seen each other.
So pissed off they look 14 and I look 105 – and I’m the one with a face full of botox! Took Little Sammy for the road trip and we had a ball. Rob had cooked an 8 course extravaganza. Poor guy, having to listen to the three of us ramble for all that time.

I know it is so goddamn cliched, but it is so true, you can pick up right where you left off with great friends.
Now Andrew and Rob own a bookshop in Orange, Boomers Bookshop. He’s just started a Facebook Bookclub. Get on board, all the cool kids are.

Thanks so much for your invitation, planning and hospitality Adndrew & Rob, Little Sammy and I loved it.
P.S Still learning how to use this new blog, not sure what this is gonna look like when I post. Apologies to all, especially Kelly, if it is shit.
Let me know what you think???

Beautiful! #subscribed such a lovely makeover xx
Blog looks great Steve. But I have to comment on the content… very bad at being a residential tutor? Mmm I beg to differ- I just remember a year of lots of fun. Yes there was enough drama to rival any episode of Melrose Place, and yes, I had to beg and cry my way into finally passing my assignments at the end of the year in order to pass ANYTHING, but boy did we have fun!
Nice work – it looks great!
And sorry we didn’t get a chance to meet up when I was in Sydney – definitely next time!
Thats ok. I’m hoping I’m up your way zoo, will let you know. x
